On January 07, 2017 my significant other (Dave) and I finally tied the knot after being with each other since June 2008. Of course, being the DIY woman and mom that I am, I chose to do almost everything myself. What on earth was I thinking. Now that it is all done I realize that I would better serve as a wedding planner. Had I NOT been the bride I could have pulled all of it off the way I wanted. My mistake was not to find someone to be 'ME' the "Planner" so that I could be me "the bride". Hind sight is truly 20/20. After all the work I did, more than a quarter of what I had prepared was not put out. I was slightly heartbroken that my hard work wasn't viewed.
The day breezed by so amazingly fast. A rainy 7th of January has been on trend for the past 5 years and we moved our outside venue inside. Go figure... a beautiful sunny day. Instead of going in to all the details, hits and misses, I just wanted to share all the different projects I and others worked on.
The "Diana and Dave" BANNER that strung across the Bride and Groom Table.
What is needed:
1. Card Board Inserts
2. Large flat box or work area
3. Satin fabric
4. Rhinestone ribbon
5. Pearl Stickers Strands
6. White Ribbon
7. Glitter Glue
8. Silver Glitter
9. Glue Gun
10. Glue Sticks for Glue Gun
I work at a company that receives the magazines that we have printed and sent to us. In the boxes there are cardboard inserts. I took these inserts and covered them with a satin wedding material (obtained at any fabric store, usually in the back section of store). Since I am not the best at writing anything I printed the letters on paper and then placed it over the material and traced over it with a tracing wheel. I then I took glitter glue (or you can use plain glue) and went over the letter a small section at a time and then sprinkled silver glitter over the letters and allowed them to dry. Once dried, I trimmed the rhinestone ribbon to the length and width needed and trimmed the pearl adhesive stickers to the length I needed and adhered to the material. I punched a hole at the top corners so that I could thread through the ribbon loops. I then glued the small ribbon onto the loops to hide the holes. My best advice is to make sure that you pre-cut all the loops so they are all the same length and create all the ribbons to allow for the same.

PARTY FAVORS (Succulents)
Instead of the typical almonds, or other items that just collect dust or get tossed, I wanted our effort to amount to something. So we chose to give away little succulents as our party favors.
WHAT IS NEEDED:
1. Small Plastic Clear Solo Cups (from Smart & Final or any Party Store) 2. Krylon Krackle Spray Paint 3. Rhinestone Ribbon 4. White Satin Ribbon 5. Glue Gun 6. Glue Sticks 7. Pearl Stickers
8. Wooden Coffee Stirrers 9. Velum Paper (for printed poem and instructions) 10. Succulents
11. Succulent Soil 12. Small Rocks for decoration 13. Table Tent
INSTRUCTIONS
Designate a large area so you can spray the cups, make sure you have an area to allow them dry. I used an old sheet that I no longer needed. Once dry, I cut up the rhinestone ribbon 2wide and glued it to the top of the cup and then cut a line of pearl stickers to go below it. I then prepared a small white satin ribbon and glued it to the top of the rhinestone and pearl stickers. Cute 3 small pearls from the sticker to the middle of the bow. Let dry. When all is dry, place some stones in the bottom of the cup, add a little soil, then place the succulent in the soil. Place remaining soil around the succulent and place small decorative stones on top. Make sure that the succulent is above the cup rim so it can grow properly. You can water every few days. Soil should be dry to touch before you water again. Have the succulent replanted within a few weeks. UNLESS you drill a hole in the bottom of the cup and have a saucer of some kind underneath it. The message reads as below:

Our Love , like this Succulent is
Long Lived and Resilient
May it bring a smile and everlasting joy to your home.
I used the Avery Label Template for business cards and inserted velum paper instead and had the below printed and then trimmed it down to size. I glued the velum to the edge of the wooden coffee stick stirrer and then placed a row of pearl sticker from the top to the middle of the stick. The remainder of the stick will go into the soil. Cut the bottom of the stick in a "v" shape so it goes into the soil easier. On the back part of the stick, which you can't see I placed a row of rhinestone ribbon.

“Each tiny seed is a little prayer.
At the end of the service let them
fly through the air.
As each seed falls may husband and
wife,
Know life’s richest blessings for
the rest of their life.
WHAT IS NEEDED:
1. A cheapo mirror with frame from any dollar store
2. White Krackle Spray Paint
3. Tiny Pearl Ribbon
4. Rhinestone Ribbon
5. Velum Paper
6. Glue Gun
7. Glue Sticks
INSTRUCTIONS:
This one is super easy. 1) spray paint the frame and let it dry. 2) Glue the pearl ribbon on the sides edge of the mirror. 3) Print Poem on Velum paper and glue the outside edges that will be hidden by the rhinestone ribbon to the mirror. 4) glue Rhinestone ribbon on the edge of the velum poem. In this photo the mirror is at an angle so it is reflecting the popcorn ceiling of the church. Allow to dry. Please check back the next day or so. Depending on the glue your gun uses, it could dry out and it could separate from the mirror or velum. Reapply glue if needed.
GIFT CARD BOX:
I didn't like how generic the boxes were in the stores. And the cost some were charging online were just heinous. Besides, I wanted something that reflected more of me. Since I am half Japanese, I wanted to use a material that I was familiar with growing up. So I used a Crane motif.
WHAT IS NEEDED:
1. Two boxes of varying size (up to you how big you want it, this one is sitting on a tray table)
2. Wide Lace Ribbon
3. Rhinestone Ribbon (trimmed to 2 row width)
4. Large Peony with leaves or any other kind of silk flower
5. White Satin Fabric
6. Contrasting Fabric (Crane Fabric)
WISHING STONES
I personally didn't find the notion of a guest book all that appealing. Just a book that will sit and collect dust in a box. Instead, I took an old Panera delivery box that held sandwiches to one of our office luncheons and covered it in a white floral satin and added sticker pearls and rhinestone lace to it. Filled it with Moss I purchased online from AliExpress. I bought the stones at Home Depot (which were washed well before using). I took Sharpie pens and wrapped it in floral wire and added Paper Coffee Filter Flowers (after dying them in watercolor) to the top. The mirror frame was spray painted and then a pearl ribbon ribbon was applied to the inner section of frame and then rhinestone ribbon was glued around Vellum sign. I printed a poem on Vellum paper and hot glued it to the mirror. The jar the flower pins are in is just a small 2x2 square glass jar that I attached a Rhinestone ribbon with a satin bow on the front.
The Poem Reads:
WISHING STONES
Yes, it's a stone from this earth,
But adding happy words will show new worth.
I'm sure you have something fun or loving to say,
That will make us smile even after a rough day.
So pick up a pen...and then take a stone,
On this day when love is shown.
We will cherish the words that you write,
Your thoughts will never be out of sight.

WEDDING SHOES & SANDALS
Okay, so I bought a pair of slip on sandals from Macy's. I have a rare foot condition (Ledderhose Disease (Plantar Fibromatosis) and my feet grew outward slightly so I couldn't even fit into the slip on's I had decorated. We used them for the garnish for our Mint Juleps we served.

2. Lace Ribbon
3. Satin Ribbon
4. Glue Gun/Glue Sticks

APPETIZER LAYOUT
We had a nightmare when it came to the party supply store that provided the table covers and drapes (in background). They forgot several of the table covers so we had to go to the store and get the cheap paper ones. The only one we could find at that time of the morning. Then the drapes were discolored, and one had a cigarette burn on it. We were pissed. The party supply store did not charge us for these items.
I had some great friends who did all the chopping for this. A vendor from my work was so kind and gave me a carved watermelon centerpiece.
I used placement cards, typed what the items were and then glued Rhinestone ribbon around the edge. I used Martini Glasses for the olives and artichokes.
The Dollar Store or 99 cent store is an amazing place. We found many serving plates available. However, the large white platters I got from Smart and Final for $5 each. The small white plates were purchased at Party City.
The containers with the cuties in them are from Party City. They were plain white. I had glued Rhinestone Ribbon and Pearl String Adhesives to the edge and topped with a satin ribbon and glued a pearl bead. I have since re-purposed them to hold some supplies on my desk at work.
I am a goat cheese fiend. Many of my friends love goat cheese as well. So I made some Goat Cheese rolls with fruit and nuts. My friend Brandi who swears she doesn't have a creative bone in her body created this layout and made it just beautiful. Those bones must be hidden from her view.
My husband required MEAT of some kind. So I was lucky and Smart and Final had some great Charcuterie available. We had so much left over we had sandwiches for 2 weeks. The dried fruit (apricots, figs, dried pineapple, papaya and plums were also from Smart and Final.
I bought the tiny little silver forks and spoons at the Dollar Store. They sell them 25 for $.99. I had several 2x2 glass square jars that I wrapped in satin material and edge with Rhinestone ribbon and a white satin ribbon. Great deal.
The little medal looking bowls are from Party City. As are the serving spoons you see. The baskets were from a thrift store. I had just placed a row of pearl adhesive around the end of one of the dark baskets and added the white satin ribbon in the middle. The little round bowl for the Brie Cheese I bought at DAISO and it was $2.00 for the large, $1.50 for the smaller one.
The Chopping board I got super lucky and found for super cheap at a thrift store.
I found these large baskets at a thrift store, 2 for $1. I had edged it in white satin ribbon and then wrapped the edge with Rhinestone Ribbon with a white Satin Bow.
Well that is it for now. I created more items that weren't put up during the wedding which made me rather sad. But I will have to pull them out and explain how did the DIY projects. If you want to know how to do these, if they aren't self explanatory, please feel free to ask. (artemisxlr8@yahoo.com)
NOW, off to other projects.
